Honor 10 to arrive in Twilight, leaked renders reveal

The Honor 10 is scheduled to arrive on April 19 in China and May 15 on the global scene. Two days before the official launch the device, official looking renders were leaked by Roland Quandt. Huawei’s subsidiary will announce the new flagship in three shiny colors - one is Black, second is a hue of Teal and the third is the famous Twilight, seen in the Huawei P20 Pro.

We already know what specs the Honor 10 will have, thanks to a TENAA listing from yesterday. The phone will have Kirin 970 with new NPU and AI capabilities. The screen will be 5.8” in diagonal, but will sport a notch, similar to what Huawei did with the P20 series. The cutout will house the earpiece and the selfie camera.

Almost simultaneously, a live image of the phone appeared on Weibo, suggesting it is the Honor 10. It looks like the same phone that appeared in a bulky case last month, so we’re giving it the thumb of approval. The picture proves that Honor is the next company that decides to jump the notch hype train.

The dual camera setup is expected to be 16 MP + 24 MP with semantic image segmentation, which is basically multi-scene detection in a single image. The Honor 10 will have 3,320 mAh battery that should be enough, given the phone is most likely to come with Huawei’s in-house quick charge that boosts the capacity to 50% in about 30 minutes.

Price and availability is the last unknown that will be unveiled at the event on Thursday.

Honor View 10 finally becomes available in the US for $499

Honor's latest flagship smartphone is finally available in the US. The Honor View 10 was initially expected to reach the country in early January, but that hasn't happened for whatever reason. It went up for pre-orderearlier this month, and today it's in stock.

You can purchase one from the Huawei sub-brand's official online store. It's priced at $499 and you can choose between blue and black color versions, and you are going to receive an unlocked device.

The Honor View 10 is powered by the same flagship Kirin 970 chipset that you can find inside the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. The phone also has the trendy 18:9 screen aspect ratio, a dual rear camera setup, and a beefy 3,750 mAh battery. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0.

Oreo beta update for Honor 7X begins rolling out today

The Oreo Beta program for the Honor 7Xwas announced by the company earlier this month, and now it's time for the update to arrive. Those who enrolled in the program are getting emails that update will start rolling out today.

The email also notes that it's a staged roll out, and all eligible units will get the beta update by the end of this week. In addition to Oreo, the update also includes the EMUI 8 skin. The final Oreo update should arrive sometime in Q2 this year.

Honor 7C is official - 18:9 screen, Face Unlock and Portrait camera

The Honor 7C is now official and will start selling in China tomorrow. It starts at CNY 899 (€115) for the 3GB+32GB model and tops out at CNY 1,299 (€166) for the 4GB+64GB one.

You are looking at a 5.99-inch 1440x720px display of 18:9 aspect with 2.5D curved glass on top. There's a Snapdragon 450 chipset (with the aforementioned 3GB or 4GB of RAM), a microSD card slot and dual-SIM as standard.

The rear camera setup consists of a 13MP main unit and a depth-sensing 2MP secondary sensor. The front-facing camera is an 8MP shooter. Software is EMUI 8.0 on Android 8.0 Oreo.

There's a fingerprint scanner on the back alongside Face Unlock (without any special sensors).

The cameras provide portrait mode on both the front and the back.

Finally the Honor 7C comes in a myriad of colors - Black, Red, Gold and Blue. Again, the Huawei-made Honor 7C will go on sale in China tomorrow - March 13.

Honor 7C becomes official on March 12

The Honor 7C passed through TENAA last month on its way to becoming official, and today we've found out exactly when that will happen. The online-first Huawei sub-brand posted the image you can see to the left on Chinese social media.

The promotional poster says we should expect the Honor 7C to be announced on March 12, and come with a 5.99" touchscreen and a triple slot housing two SIMs and one microSD card. Oh, and it also boasts a dual rear camera of course.

As per TENAA's listing, that display will have 1,440x720 resolution and the increasingly trendy 18:9 aspect ratio, while the dual cams on the back have 13 MP and 20 MP resolution. The selfie shooter is an 8 MP unit. You'll get either 3 or 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The Honor 7C will run Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top, and it will have a 2,900 mAh battery. Expect to see it in gold, blue, and black. When it reaches Europe, it should be priced at around €200 SIM-free.

Honor 7C swings by TENAA, gets most specs revealed

Another Huawei midranger, most likely the Honor 7C, is being prepared for launch after being certified at TENAA. A listing on the Chinese regulatory website revealed most of the smartphone’s specs - octa-core CPU at 1.8 GHz and a dual 13 MP + 20 MP camera.

Arriving with 5.99” FullView display, the Honor 7C will have HD+ resolution (1440 x 720 pixels). There are two listings for devices with model numbers LND-TL30 and LND-TL40, the only difference between them is RAM - the phone will have 3 GB or 4 GB. Internal storage is listed as 32 GB, but there will be a microSD slot.

The front panel does not have a home button like some other Honor devices, so the fingerprint scanner made its way to the back. Above the display sits one selfie camera with 8 MP sensor. The Honor 7C will run Android Oreo, presumably with EMUI 8.0 and will have a 2,900 mAh battery.

Arriving in Gold, Blue, and Black, the phone measures 158.3 x 76.7 x 7.8 mm with a weight of 164 g. When its predecessor Honor 6C was announced, it cost €229, so the Honor 7C is most likely to be placed in the same ballpark.

Honor 9 Lite gets Face Unlock with new update

Huawei sub-brand Honor has started pushing out a new update to its Honor 9 Litesmartphone. The OTA update brings along the much requested Face Unlock feature, making the handset the latest Honor smartphone (after the Honor 7X and View 10) to sport it.

The roll out has just begun, so it may take time for the update notification to pop up on your unit. Officially, Honor has said the roll out process will complete by early next month - March 5 to be precise.

Honor 9 Lite comes with free Bluetooth earphones in the UK

While Samsung is offering a free pair of Gear IconX truly wireless headphones with a purchase of a Galaxy Note8 or S8 in the US, Huawei's online-first sub-brand Honor is doing a similar thing in the UK.

Over there, when you buy an Honor 9 Lite smartphone from the company's official online store, you will receive a pair of Bluetooth wireless earphones for free. They are apparently worth £69.99 on their own, and that makes this a pretty good deal considering that the Honor 9 Lite itself will only set you back a cool £199.99.

The phone can be bought in black or blue, and the headphones are available in the same colors. Interestingly, you can mix and match if you're so inclined. The earbuds sport the traditional design of being connected by a single wire, unlike Samsung's aforementioned truly wireless pair. Honor's Sport Bluetooth Earphones are IP52 rated for dust and sweat resistance, and you should allegedly get 11 hours of music playback from them, as well as more than 10 days of standby.

Oreo for Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro begins rolling

A couple of devices from Huawei's sub-brand Honor are getting a new update. Specifically, the Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro are getting the EMUI 8.0 update which brings along Android Oreo.

As for changes, all major Oreo goodies should be there, including picture-in-picture mode and notification dots. The update is currently hitting units in the UK, although we expect it will be available in other key markets sooner than later.
